A Change Is Gonna Come… part 2

Well… the sayig it’s DARKEST before the DAWN must be true.  I’ve hit some really rough paches since my last post.

I don’t even want to begin to write it all here.  I tend to overwhelm myself when I start counting up all the negative stuff.  Focusing on the good coming out of it all, I’ve found out that I have a much larger network of folks who are praying for me than I previously realized.  I’m connecting on deeper levels to some people from my church – something I’ve wanted to do but have been afraid out of fear of rejection or disapproval.  I’ve come to realize that soooo many issues I face stem from years of negative expectations placed on me by others – I’ve been trying to ‘prove them wrong’ for so long.  I’m learning more and more that the wounds that time heals are pretty deep and that’s why it takes so long.

I’m aiming to write something of significance about my life here no less than once a week.  I’m hoping this will help me get the most out of the Solutions class I’m taking at church.  It’s based on the Book “Changes That Heal” by Dr. Henry Cloud.  I’ve read one of his books and heard him speak twice now and I really think great things are coming from me putting this stuff into practice.  The class/group is 9 weeks long so lets see how this goes. 🙂

That’s all for now… I’ve got lots more I want to write, but I don’t feel like writing it all right now. I will soon.

C.O.G. Knocks It Out Of The Park!

Well it’s another beautiful day in the neighborhood as Corey Camphor and the Voices of C.O.G. sing praises once again.  This time we were invited to participate in Chicago’s 3rd Ward Music Festival.  We really tried to put more planning and preparation into getting ready for this event and God really blessed the effort!  Our set was extended to 30 minutes and people were really blessed by our ministry!

Calhoun I’m hoping that we as a group are turning a corner and will see greater opprounities in the future.  Click any of the photos in this post to see the bautiful photography my mom captured of us using my camera.  I edited them in Adobe Light Room, but she did an excellent job to begin with!  Now it’s off to bed as I have two services to sing in at South Barrington with my church in the morning! 🙂

New DarrenCalhoun.com site coming soon!

Welcome to DarrenCalhoun.com – I’ve had this site since sometime in 2005.  I’ve decided to start again with version 3.0 and am creating the site as a WordPress blog.  If you’d like to see versions 1.0 and 2.0 you’re welcome to click those links.

In the mean time this space will soon be updated with everything about me… church, life, ministry, photos, video, and more.

Thanks for dropping by!

There’s Still Hope!

happy Darren looking up
There’s hope

It doesn’t cost a thing to smile
You don’t have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that

Baby Pictures Club: ONE MORE WEEK!

*ATTTENTION*
Members of the Baby Pictures Club
We are extending the “Baby Pictures Club Campaign” until Friday.  So if you have not joined, you have until then to do so.  For those that have joined, pass along this portion of the blog to the rest of your friends.  I have noticed that alot of people have joined, but they are too numerous to count.  I am going to have to find a way to get a good count…since it is nearly impossible to go to everyones pages, and their friends’ pages, and their friends’ pages.  We’ll come up with something, but we have until Friday to figure it out.  Keep promoting this thing…it already seems to have turned 360 upside down.  Thanks again and y’all be blessed.
Now crawling, walking, and stealing other babies strollers…
